Panama City distinguishes itself from other Latin American cities with its modern city centre. But that doesn’t mean the city is devoid of history. On the other side of town lies the old district Casco Viejo, which was founded in 1671. Packed with cathedrals, museums, restaurants and jazz clubs, Casco Viejo is one of the most charming neighbourhoods of Panama City.

Nature

Just a 30-minute drive from Panama City lies the green tropical world of Soberania National Park. This rainforest is the habitat of hundreds of species of fauna and flora and is especially known for its 525 different species of birds. There are numerous daytrips from Panama City, but to get a real taste of the rainforest, it is worth spending several days in the park and overnighting in the jungle.

Arts & Culture

The Panama Canal is also called the 8th wonder of the world and that's quite understandable. The project was one of the largest and most incredible engineering feats in history. Ships no longer have to sail around the continent but can cut straight through the 77-km-long canal, saving an enormous amount of time and money.

Nightlife

When the sun goes down, Panama City comes alive. The city is famous for its vibrant nightlife and residents love to go out at night and party.
